阿弗莱克于1975年出生在美国马萨诸塞州巴恩斯特布尔县。他的哥哥是著名演员本·阿弗莱克，母亲叫克里斯廷·安妮·克里斯，是一个学区的雇员和教师，父亲叫蒂莫西·拜尔斯·阿弗莱克，是一个调酒师、药物顾问、汽车技师、社会工作者和演员。[2][3]
阿弗莱克有着爱尔兰、苏格兰、德国和英国后裔的血统，是演员马特·达蒙的远房表亲。[4]
阿弗莱克家里信奉圣公会。
阿弗莱克比哥哥小3岁。[5]
作为一个孩子的时候，他取得了许多宠物，包括猫、蛇、几内亚猪和海龟。[6]
