学位是指教育机构根据学生的专业知识所授予的称号，一般分为学士、硕士和博士三个等级。

中国古代学位制[编辑]
中国历史上最早的学位制是清末的“附生、贡生、举人、进士”四级学位制。古代曾有的学士、硕士、博士称呼，但不是学位，如博士只是官名。[1]
中華民國學位制[编辑]
中華民國學位制為依據1935年制定的學位授予法，以及爾後修正條文。該法第二條規定學位分學士、碩士、博士三級。學位授予法/民國93年（2004年）版本第二條增加副學士學位，由專科學校授予，並得由大學授予。

學士後專業學位[编辑]
學士後專業學位（Post-graduate Professional Degrees, 簡稱「專業學位/Professional Degrees」）是提供非該等專業學位所修習範疇的畢業生修讀，其地位等同該專業的本科學位，但由於入讀學生皆已在另一專業達到本科畢業的程度，因此大部份專業學位在學歷上是一個碩士學位，只有少量仍以學士學位自居。因此，大部份專業學位亦被稱為「專業碩士（Professional Master）」。
專業學位是授課式學位（Taught Degrees）並非研究式學位（Research Degrees）。雖然由於學歷地位的問題，大部份的專業學位皆在研究生院的課程列表之中，但學術界均普遍將之視為一個較為高等的本科學位。大部份學風嚴謹的大學例如牛津大學、劍橋大學等皆要求專業學位畢業生在繼續進修時必須先完成研究式碩士方可繼續攻讀博士。
