森蚺行動

森蚺行動 是2002年三月初美军和CIA准军事人员协同阿富汗军方及其他一些国家力量发动的旨在摧毁基地组织与塔利班军事力量的行动。地点是在佐玛特省东南的沙赫科特山谷与阿尔玛山区。[2]这一行动是美军在阿富汗自2001年12月托拉波拉战役起首次大规模行动。也是在阿富汗战区首次投入大规模的常规陆军力量进行直接战斗。
从3月2日到3月16日1,700名美军与1000名阿富汗新政府军空运到战斗地点与300-1000名基地组织及塔利班人员交战以夺得山谷的控制权。基地组织及塔利班人员凭峙依靠山洞山地的战壕用迫击炮和重机枪进行抵抗。塔利班指挥官塞法-拉赫曼-曼苏尔之后率援军到达战场。美军一开始估计山谷里的塔利班士兵为150-200人,之后发现有500-1000人。美军估计打死了至少500名敌军。但是后来有记者称只发现了23具尸体,而且数天之后有媒体评论说此次行动“与其说是军事上的必要,不如说是被中了邪的媒体驱使的”。[3]
