John Jacob Astor (born Johann Jakob or Johann Jacob Astor) (1763年 7月17日 - 1848年 3月29日) 阿斯特家族王朝開創者，美國第一位百萬富豪，美國第一個托拉斯的創造者。他的巨富主要來自毛皮，不動產，與鴉片的交易。^[1]

他出身德國一個普通家庭，之後搬到倫敦，再隨著美國獨立革命輾轉來到美國。他建立了巨大的毛皮企業版圖，從五大湖區到加拿大，之後更擴展到美西和太平洋岸。在1800年代，他業務推展到紐約市的房地產，而在晚年，他資助了許多藝術與文學創作者。

在1848年過世時，他是全美首富，財產超過2000萬美金。依富比世雜誌估計，約為今日之1150億美金，為美國歷史上第四巨富。^[2]

1830年代他預見了未來紐約市的巨大發展，並知道這個地方終將成為地球上最大城市。阿斯特從他的公司內借來巨大款項，全力投資曼哈頓的房地產。

他更預言了未來曼哈頓北部的繁榮，他買下的土地之大，甚至超過了今天的城市邊界。阿斯特很少在他的土地上建築，而是等別人付租金來幫他建築。

在退休後，他贊助了許多文化事業。包括資助了鳥類學家John James Audubon, 作家Edgar Allan Poe。

他死後留下遺產超過2000萬美金，依照他的遺言，建造了阿斯特圖書館(之後與其他圖書館聯合成為紐約圖書館)，並在他離開70年的家鄉，德國的沃爾多夫鎮建造了貧民收容所。他並交代將他生前的一切商業往來紀錄與帳目全部燒成灰，讓這傳奇商業帝國的內部運作至今仍然成謎。
