腔骨龍超科（Coelophysoidea）是群晚三疊紀到早侏儸紀的常見恐龍。牠們的地理分布非常廣泛，可能生存於每個大陸。腔骨龍超科恐龍是肉食性動物，體型修長，外表類似虛骨龍類，有些種的頭頂有易碎的冠飾；腔骨龍超科之前被分類於虛骨龍類。腔骨龍超科恐龍的身長範圍從1到6公尺。目前仍不清楚腔骨龍超科恐龍的外表覆蓋物，不同的藝術家將牠們繪畫成佈滿鱗片，或是覆蓋者羽毛。在某些挖掘地點發現了眾多的個體化石聚集在一起，因此有些種被推測可能以小群體方式生活。
著名的腔骨龍超科恐龍包括：腔骨龍、原美頜龍、理理恩龍、以及可能的雙脊龍。大多數原先被分類於快足龍科的恐龍，現在被分類於腔骨龍超科。

儘管腔骨龍超科在化石紀錄上出現的時間很早，牠們仍擁有許多的衍化特徵，將牠們與原始獸腳亞目恐龍區別開來。在這些衍化特徵中最重要的一個是上頜的骨頭連接方式（前上頜骨與上頜骨之間的關節），這兩塊骨頭上的牙齒間，形成一道可彎曲的縫隙。腔骨龍超科最常被獸腳亞目專家提起的一個爭議，即是角鼻龍下目與腔骨龍超科擁有較近的共同祖先，還是角鼻龍下目與其他獸腳亞目恐龍擁有較近的共同祖先。大部分近期研究傾向於後者，腔骨龍超科、角鼻龍下目是兩個獨立的演化支。
雙脊龍科曾經長期被歸類於腔骨龍超科，但根據近年的研究，雙脊龍科可能較接近於堅尾龍類[1]。
