艾肯是在月球背面的一個巨大的撞擊坑，是以專門研究聯星系統的美國天文學家 Robert Aitken命名的。它位於海維賽 (Heaviside)火山口的東南方，和結構非常特別的凡德格拉夫 (Van de Graaff) 火山口的北方，再加上西南緣是Vertregt，東南方是較小的伯格斯特蘭 (Bergstrand)。
艾肯環形山的內壁是臺地，並且寬度有著顯著的改變，在西南側最狹窄。火山口艾肯Z在橫跨北邊的內側；正在北緣的是小火山口艾肯A，它被一層低反照率的噴發物覆蓋著。內部的底層，特別是東南部的一半，覆蓋著早期較暗的熔岩流，中心脊的弧線正好就在中心點的東邊，和一條較小的山脊線在西方的一半處。
這個火山口位於巨大的南極-艾托肯盆地邊緣的北方，而這個隕石坑是在月球南極極點的盆地之後命名的，但這兩個極端的地形有著相同的名稱。
