1994年7月，尼遜與影星娜塔莎·李察遜結婚，育有兩名兒子Michael 和 Daniel。2009年3月19日，娜塔莎·李察遜在加拿大魁北克因滑雪意外事故导致头部重伤去世。
他居住于紐約州东南部達奇斯縣的Millbrook村。2004年8月他与妻子一起购买了他家周围附近16英亩的土地[1][2]。
事业早年他烟瘾很大，后来成功戒烟[3]。2009年8月，他在美国广播公司的节目《早安美國》中表示他已经加入美国国籍[4]。
