鲸蜡醇（英语：Cetyl alcohol）是一种脂肪醇，分子式为CH3(CH2)15OH。在室温下，鲸蜡醇为一蜡质的白色固体或薄片。它最初是从鲸油提炼分离出来[2]。
制备[编辑]
鲸蜡醇于1817年由法国化学家米歇尔·欧仁·谢弗勒尔发现，当时他正把一种由抹香鲸抽出的蜡质－鲸蜡油与苛性钾一起（即氢氧化钾）加热，冷却后出现呈薄片状的鲸蜡醇[3]。
由于商业捕鲸活动日渐式微，现今鲸蜡醇大多由植物油（如棕榈油及椰子油）的氢化制得。[4]
用途[编辑]
鲸蜡醇可用于化妆品工业，如洗发露的遮光剂及润肤膏的乳化剂和增稠剂。[5]它亦可用于螺帽和门闩的润滑剂。
副作用[编辑]
湿疹的患者会对鲸蜡醇敏感[6][7]，但这可能是由鲸蜡醇以外的杂质引起[8]。不过，鲸蜡醇有时可用作治疗湿疹的药物[9]。
