沙丘鶴（學名：Antigone canadensis）為鶴科赤頸鶴屬的大型涉禽。該物種的模式產地在加拿大哈得遜灣。[2]其種名「canadensis」為加拿大的拉丁語形式。[3]

外形[編輯]

成年沙丘鶴外表為灰色；在繁殖期，特別是在遷徙的亞種中，它們的羽毛被磨損，變為赭色。體型較大的雄性平均體重為4.57千克，而雌性的平均體重為4.02千克。所有亞種的平均體重在2.7-6.7千克之間。[4] [5]沙丘鶴的前額為紅色，臉頰為白色，擁有長而黑的尖喙。在飛行時，他它們長而黑的雙腿擺在後面，頸部和脖子保持伸直狀態。幼鳥身體上部呈紅棕色，下部呈灰色。[6][7]不同亞種的體型差異很大；它們的平均高度在80-122厘米之間。[8][9]它們的翼弦長度在42-60厘米之間，尾部長度在10-26厘米之間，暴露喙峰長6.9-16厘米，跗骨長15.5 -26.6厘米。[10]

成年沙丘鶴的翼展在1.65至2.30米之間，大型的雙翼有利於它們更好的飛翔，與鷹和鵰的風格類似。[9]它們利用上升的暖氣流獲得升力，可以在空中飛行數小時而不停歇。

分類學[編輯]

在之前的分類中，沙丘鶴屬於鶴屬。但2010年發表的一項分子系統發生學研究表明，鶴屬是多系群的。[11]所以，在之後對鶴科重新分類中，沙丘鶴、白枕鶴、赤頸鶴和澳洲鶴被移到了赤頸鶴屬。赤頸鶴屬這一分類最早由德國鳥類學家路德維希·賴興巴赫於1853年提出。[12][13]

亞種[編輯]

沙丘鶴可以分為6個亞種，不同亞種之間的體型和習性差異較大。[14]
