艾瑪·羅伊納·蓋特伍德（英語：Emma Rowena Gatewood，1887年10月25日—1973年6月4日[1]，常被稱為蓋特伍德奶奶，英語：Grandma Gatewood），超輕徒步先驅，她是首位獨自徒步走完阿帕拉契小徑的女性，僅耗時三個月。[2]
家庭生活[編輯]
蓋特伍德生於俄亥俄州高盧縣古堰鄉，她是一位農夫的妻子，育有11個子女，截至其去世前，她有24個孫輩，30個重孫，1個玄孫。[1]結婚後，她長期受到家庭暴力的影響。[3]
徒步[編輯]
1955年，67歲的蓋特伍德前往徒步阿帕拉契小徑，她穿着Keds運動鞋，她把一塊軍用毛毯、一件雨衣、一塊塑料浴簾裝在自家縫製的背包里，然後單肩背包徒步，由此她成了超輕背包的先驅。當她到達康涅狄格州後，本地報紙刊登了她的故事，運動畫刊跟進報道[4] ，偶後她還在今日秀中露臉。
後來她在國家地理中說，"I thought it would be a nice lark," she said, adding "It wasn't." Another time she complained "For some fool reason, they always lead you right up over the biggest rock to the top of the biggest mountain they can find."[2]
1960年、1963年（時年75歲），她又兩次徒步了阿帕拉契小徑，最後一次她分段完成了徒步。[2]2007年以前，她一直是徒步阿帕拉契小徑的最年長女性。[5]
另外，她還徒步了2000英里（3200公里）的俄勒岡小徑，從密蘇里州獨立城到俄勒岡州波特蘭，平均每天徒步22英里（35公里）。這樣她徒步了美國大陸地區的所有州。
1970年，時年83，她在弗吉尼亞州奧克頓訪問阿帕拉契旅行用品商店時，有人詢問她對於當時輕量背包裝備的看法，她建議：「製作一個雨衣，一個單肩背包，再買雙結實的Keds網球鞋。在當地雜貨店買好維也納香腸……其他吃的你可以在路邊找到……and by the way those wild onions are not called "Ramps"... they are "Rampians" ... a ramp is an inclined plane.」
蓋特伍德是National Campers 、Hikers Association和the Roanoke Appalachian Trail Club的終生會員，同時她也是Director Emeritus和the Buckeye Trail Association的終生會員。[1]

在俄亥俄州Hocking Hills州立公園，North Country Trail、uckeye Trail和the American Discovery Trail重合的6英里部分，被指定為蓋特伍德奶奶小徑（Grandma Gatewood Trail），這條小徑連接了Old Man's Cave和Cedar Falls to Ash Cave。[6][7]
