聖保羅 （英語：Saint Paul, Minnesota）是美國明尼蘇達州州府、第二大城市，是明尼蘇達州面積最小、人口最密集的拉姆西縣首府。[4]根據美國2000年人口普查，人口為287,151 人，2005年人口下降至275,150 人。面積145.5 平方公里。西、南隔密西西比河與明尼阿波利斯相望，組成著名的雙城 （Twin Cities），是美國第16大都會區明尼阿波利斯-聖保羅都會區的核心，擁有約352萬居民。[5]
歷史[編輯]
現在印第安丘陵公園的埋葬地區表明，這個地區最初是由兩千年前的霍普韋爾美洲原住民所居住的。[6][7] 從17世紀初到1837年，蘇族的Mdewakanton Dakota部落在逃離祖先的米拉湖之家後，靠近丘陵，成為了歐及布威族。[6][8] 他們因暴露的白砂岩懸崖稱該地區為I-mni-za ska dan（「小白石」）。[9][10]

由於密西西比河和明尼蘇達河在這裏交匯，聖保羅歷史上一直是一座港口城市。
氣候[編輯]
聖保羅屬典型的美國上中西部地區大陸氣候，按柯本氣候分類法為濕潤性大陸氣候（Dfa）。冬季嚴寒、大雪，夏季炎熱、濕潤。可以見到雷暴、龍捲風、凍雨、大霧等各類天氣情況。[11]

教育[編輯]
聖保羅的人均高等教育機構數高居全美第二[21]，當地有三所公立、八所私立高等教育機構。這包括聖嘉芙蓮大學、協和大學聖保羅分校、哈姆萊大學、瑪卡萊斯特學院、聖托馬斯大學、大都會州立大學、聖保羅學院和米切爾·哈姆萊法學院。[22]
聖保羅公立學校共包含82所學校，包括52所小學、12所初中、7所高中、10所非傳統學校和1所特殊教育學校，有約四萬名學生[23][24]。另外還有私立學校38座、特許學校21座，美國第一所特許學校就是1992年在這裏建立的。[25][26]
