大比目魚號是美國海軍1950年代建造的一艘試驗用核潛艦，一開始編號為飛彈核潛艦的SSGN-587，後來變為攻擊型核潛艦的SSN-587。它是美國海軍第二艘以大比目魚命名的潛艦。它於1957年4月11日於加州瓦列霍的邁爾島海軍船廠（英語：Mare Island Naval Shipyard）鋪設龍骨，1959年1月9日下水由加州參議員Chet Holifield的妻子命名。1960年1月4日服役，艦長是Walter Dedrick少校。儘管它一開始建造時規劃成普通柴電潛艦，建完時卻用上了核子動力。

該潛艦參與的知名行動包括找到失事的蘇聯核潛艦K-129號（英語：Soviet submarine K-129 (1960)）以進行打撈，以及常春藤鈴行動。
