惡性瘧原蟲（拉丁語：Plasmodium falciparum）是一種原生動物寄生蟲^[2]，是引發人類瘧疾的瘧原蟲的一種，由雌性瘧蚊傳播。該型瘧原蟲引發的瘧疾是所有瘧疾中死亡率最高的一種^[3]。根據最近的2014年世界衛生組織的統計，2013年全世界的瘧疾病例共有1.98億例，估計造成584,000人死亡^[4]^[5]。

惡性瘧原蟲起源於在大猩猩中發現的瘧疾寄生蟲，約一萬年前的Laverania（英語：Laverania）。^[6]
