Wise由Skype的首位員工Taavet Hinrikus[4]與財務顧問Kristo Käärmann創立。它的系統被比作哈瓦拉（英語：hawala）匯款系統。[5] [6] [7] [8]

2016年5月，Wise宣稱的「相比銀行您可以節省高達90%的費用」被英國廣告標準管理局（英語：Advertising Standards Authority (United Kingdom)）稱具有誤導性。[39]

2020年6月，在專家對Wise幫助開發的數字版COVID-19免疫護照提出道德和隱私問題後，該公司承認免疫護照不是「完美的解決方案」，聯合創始人Hinrikus表示，在就COVID-19免疫力達成科學共識前，該產品不會公開發布。[40]
