*苏格兰的成人年龄是16岁，但是在英国其他地区是18岁成年年龄（也称成人年龄）是在法律上成为成年人的年龄。一个人一旦到达了这个年龄，就不再视作未成年人，开始对自己的人身、行为和决定行使法律上的控制权，获取先前被剥夺的权利，同时终止其父母对其拥有的权利。
很多国家的成年年龄为18岁，也有些司法管辖区设置了更高或更低的年龄。
