說故事

說故事（又稱講故事、講故、講古）是一種分享故事的社會與文化活動，有時會伴隨即興、戲劇表演或修飾。每種文化都有其自身的敘事，作為娛樂、教育、文化保存或灌輸道德價值（有時透過寓意）的一種方式。[1] 故事與說故事的關鍵元素包括情節、角色及敘事視角。「說故事」一詞可特指口述故事，也可廣泛指稱在其他媒體中用以鋪陳或揭示故事敘事所使用的技巧。
說故事的歷史早於文字。最早的形式通常是口頭的，並結合手勢和表情。一些考古學家認為，岩畫對許多古代文化而言，可能是一種說故事的形式。[2] 澳洲原住民將故事中的象徵符號繪於洞穴岩壁上，以幫助說書人記憶故事，並結合口頭敘事、音樂和舞蹈來讲述。[3] 隨著書寫的出現，故事被記錄在各種媒介上，但口述故事至今仍不斷被創造並代代相傳。
現代說故事的範疇廣泛。除了傳統形式（童話、民間故事、神話、傳說、寓言等），它已擴展至再現歷史、個人敘事及政治評論。當代說故事也被廣泛用於教育目標。[4] 新的媒體形式正為人們記錄、表達和消費故事創造新的方式。[5]
口述傳統在多個文明中皆可見。阿爾伯特·洛德在研究南斯拉夫口頭詩人時發現，他們的故事很大一部分是在講述過程中即興創作的文本。[6] 洛德識別出兩種「故事詞彙」。第一種他稱為「公式」：如「玫瑰指的黎明」或「酒紅色的大海」等固定詞組。另一種是主題，即構成故事的一套固定的情節動作順序。正如說書人使用公式逐行推進，他們也使用主題來推進事件。在中國，這種口述傳統發展成一種精緻的藝術形式，稱為評書（或稱說書）。早在宋代，便有藝人如霍四究以「說三分」（講述三國故事）聞名[7]。傳統的評書表演者多為一人，身著長衫，以摺扇和醒木為道具，講述歷史演義與英雄傳奇。一些考古學家相信，岩畫對許多古代文化而言，可能是一種說故事的形式。[8] 說故事是分享與詮釋經驗的方式。故事具有普世性，能跨越文化、語言和年齡的鴻溝。說故事可用於教導倫理、價值觀和文化規範。[9] 人類知識奠基於故事，人們也常以故事形式記憶事實。[10]
對許多原住民文化而言，說故事是發展身份認同所必需的口頭語言形式。故事不僅是為了娛樂，更是為了教導社群價值觀。[11] 例如，加拿大的斯托羅社群透過講述關於土地的故事來強化孩童的身份認同。[11] 在這些社群中，說故事是將知識、文化價值和歷史代代相傳的主要方式。[12]
