Exmor是索尼公司应用在其部分CMOS图像传感器上的技术名称。其可以实现片上模数转换以及错行像素的两步降噪并行处理。

Exmor R则是索尼的Exmor的背照式传感器英语Back-illuminated sensor版本[1] 。索尼公司于2008年6月11日发布Exmor R,其也是世界上首个量产型背照式传感器技术[2] 。索尼声称Exmor R约可达到传统前照式传感器(front illuminated sensor)两倍灵敏度。这类有源像素传感器英语active pixel sensor在一些索尼出品的拍照手机与相机中有应用,甚至苹果公司iPhone 4SiPhone 5中也有应用[3][4] 。Exmor R传感器有助于帮助智能手机在低照度环境下获取高分辨率视频或静止图像。

很长一段时间,Exmor R仅被使用在较小的图像传感器类型中,如应用在摄像机、紧凑型相机以及智能设备上,而随着2015年6月,索尼ILCE-7RM2的发布,也意味着Exmor R型号传感器登陆全画幅领域。

2014年11月,索尼公司宣布了新型的Exmor RS,为具备内置相位对焦点的积层型CMOS传感器,具备高速自动对焦能力[5]
