POSTNET
POSTNET（Postal Numeric Encoding Technique，邮政数字编码）是美国邮政署使用的条码 。以半高和全高线条对邮递区号、邮递区号+4码或投递点编号编码。[1]
每个数字都以五条线表示，其中两条为长线（即五取二码）。长线为Binary code中的1。每条线从左至右代表的数值分别为7、4、2、1和0（尽管数字0会以11000编码，而非00001）。起始与终止符号都是长线（通常称为“护栏”或“框架”，在USPS TrueType字体中以字母“S”表示），在邮递区号、邮递区号+4码与投递点编号右边会加上校验码。

校验码算法[编辑]
校验码加上条码中的其他数字会是10的倍数。也就是说，条码内容的总和会整除10。
计算校验码有以下步骤：
- 将所有数字相加。例如，邮递区号+4码55555-1237的总和为38 。
- 求出该数字除以10的余数。在本例中为38÷10=3...8 。
- 从10减去上一步的结果。在本例中为10-8=2。
如果计算正确，条码内容的总和会是10的倍数。继续上面的范例，(5+5+5+5+5+15+2+3+7+2)=40，而40 mod 10=0。

2009年秋天，POSTNET被智慧邮政条码取代 [3]。原本预计于2011年5月开始全面使用智慧邮政条码，但美国邮政署将时间推迟至2013年1月28日。 [4][5]

The Intelligent Mail barcode, formerly referred to as the 4-State Customer barcode, is a new Postal Service barcode used to sort and track letters and flats. The Postal Service is promoting use of the Intelligent Mail barcode because it expands the ability to track individual mailpieces and provides customers with greater visibility into the mailstream.
