伍斯特（英語：Worcester /ˈwʊstər/ WUUSS-tər，本地 /ˈwɪstə/ WISS-tə）[1]位於美國馬薩諸塞州中部，是伍斯特縣的縣治所在，人口約18萬（2010年）[2]，是新英格蘭地區第二大城市，僅次於波士頓[3]。它位於波士頓以西40英里（64公里），普羅維登斯以北40英里（64公里），城市裡保留有許多維多利亞式建築。
歷史[編輯]
這片地區最早的居民為尼普穆克族，他們稱此地為「Quinsigamond」，聚居地在奧伯恩的Pakachoag Hill附近[4]。1673年英格蘭殖民者約翰·艾略特（John Eliot）和丹尼爾·古金（Daniel Gookin）開始計劃在這裡建立殖民地，次年7月13日尼普穆克族答應了他們的要求，給予了他們八平方英里的土地。[5]
1675年尼普穆克族和殖民者之間爆發菲利普國王戰爭，最終殖民者離開了這裡，尼普穆克族燒掉了他們留下的建築[5]。1713年喬納斯·賴斯再次在此定居[6]，1722年6月14日此地以英格蘭的伍斯特為名正式建立政府[7]。1731年4月2日成為新成立的伍斯特郡的郡治。
地理與氣候[編輯]
伍斯特屬溫帶大陸性氣候，四季分明，降雨與日照充足。冬季寒冷，微潮，日最高氣溫低於或等於0 °C（32 °F）的平均日數為45天，日最低氣溫−10 °C（14 °F）以下的平均日數為30天，−15 °C（5 °F）以下的平均日數為9.0天；夏季相對炎熱潮濕，日最高氣溫大於或等於30 °C（86 °F）的日數年均有13天，35 °C（95 °F）以上的氣溫為罕見。[8]最冷月（1月）均溫−4.1 °C（24.7 °F），極端最低氣溫−31 °C（−24 °F）（1943年2月16日）。最熱月（7月）均溫21.6 °C（70.8 °F），極端最高氣溫39 °C（102 °F）（1911年7月4日）。無霜期平均為176天（4月23日至10月15日）；可測量降雪平均期為11月15日至4月4日。[8]年均降水量約1,230公釐（48.3英寸），年極端最少降水量為709公釐（27.92英寸）（1941年），最多為1,820公釐（71.66英寸）（1972年）。[8]年均降雪量為185公分（72.9英寸）；1954–55年的降雪量最少，積累降雪量只有54公分（21.2英寸），1992–93年的降雪量最多，積累降雪量為3.05公尺（120.1英寸）。[8][9]
