POSTNET
POSTNET（Postal Numeric Encoding Technique，郵政數字編碼）是美國郵政署使用的條碼 。以半高和全高線條對郵遞區號、郵遞區號+4碼或投遞點編號編碼。[1]
每個數字都以五條線表示，其中兩條為長線（即五取二碼）。長線為Binary code中的1。每條線從左至右代表的數值分別為7、4、2、1和0（儘管數字0會以11000編碼，而非00001）。起始與終止符號都是長線（通常稱為「護欄」或「框架」，在USPS TrueType字體中以字母「S」表示），在郵遞區號、郵遞區號+4碼與投遞點編號右邊會加上校驗碼。

校驗碼演算法[編輯]
校驗碼加上條碼中的其他數字會是10的倍數。也就是說，條碼內容的總和會整除10。
計算校驗碼有以下步驟：
- 將所有數字相加。例如，郵遞區號+4碼55555-1237的總和為38 。
- 求出該數字除以10的餘數。在本例中為38÷10=3...8 。
- 從10減去上一步的結果。在本例中為10-8=2。
如果計算正確，條碼內容的總和會是10的倍數。繼續上面的範例，(5+5+5+5+5+15+2+3+7+2)=40，而40 mod 10=0。

2009年秋天，POSTNET被智慧郵政條碼取代 [3]。原本預計於2011年5月開始全面使用智慧郵政條碼，但美國郵政署將時間推遲至2013年1月28日。 [4][5]

The Intelligent Mail barcode, formerly referred to as the 4-State Customer barcode, is a new Postal Service barcode used to sort and track letters and flats. The Postal Service is promoting use of the Intelligent Mail barcode because it expands the ability to track individual mailpieces and provides customers with greater visibility into the mailstream.
