萬事達幣

萬事達幣（Mastercoin）是建立在比特幣鏈上的一種數碼貨幣和傳輸協議。能夠整合金融功能到一個加密貨幣中，這是它顯著的成就之一。^[1] 已規劃的目標包括開發分佈式交易所，實現智能財產和存儲錢包。^[2]

J.R.Willett已經在2012年1月發佈了第一份關於萬事達幣協議的草案作為一份白皮書，裏面提到在目前的比特幣協議「可以作為一個協議層，基於該層創造新的規則從而不需要改變底層。」^[2]

2013年7月31號，萬事達幣專案正式啟動，長達一個月的群眾募資期間，任何人都可以認購萬事達幣 - 協議使用數碼標記進行交易 - 通過發送比特幣到一個特定的「託管地址」。^[2] 當時的想法是，平台正處於開發中，數碼標記將會變得更有價值，投資者可以出售他們的萬事達幣獲取收益。^[3] 萬事達幣基金會，一個非營利組織被創建，為了更好地利用發送到託管地址的資金。^[4] 儘管曾經被警告過，萬事達幣或許僅僅是個細心策劃的騙局，最終有500人^[5] 通過發送共5000個比特幣參與該專案，當時價值50萬美元。^[6]

2014年1月，受僱於萬事達幣基金會，J.R.Willet作為「首席架構師」全職參與該專案。^[7]

2014年2月，根據coinmarketcap.com統計的市值，萬事達幣成為第七大加密貨幣。^[8]
