王絨鴨體重約1616.71克，翼長約266.3毫米，嘴峰長約33.8毫米，喙寬度約17.5毫米，喙厚度約14.1毫米，跗蹠長約42.8毫米，尾長約76.2毫米。王絨鴨是候鳥，其棲息在開放的海洋及海島環境中，食性為肉食性，主要食物來源是水生動物。^[3]
