工業導向型教育

工業導向型教育英文Industry Oriented Education),為一種教育模式,旨在直接把工業上的課題搬到課堂,通過課題的討論,引進必要的理論和基礎(例如數學)。 其起源於職業教育。直到2004年,工業導向型教育應用於非學位教育。 2004年的亞太工業與教育合作研討會上,工業導向型教育被應用在學士學位的教育隨後應用在碩士學位的教育(參考以下戚子明教授的一系列相關論文)。

工業導向型教育陸續在新西蘭的國立理工學院施行。舉例,在新西蘭的理工學院提供了一個工程技術學士學位, 與綜合性大學提供的工程學學士比較,其區別在於課程重點和職業選擇上的不同。雖然綜合性大學工科學士學位的畢業生有明確的職業工程師的職業選擇,並且以工程碩士和博士學位進一步深造途徑, 理工學院的工程技術學士畢業生在工作市場上定義為 一般的"工程技術人員",並沒有定義明確的進一步深造途徑。因此, 理工學院的工科本科畢業生的進一步學習途徑或專業發展, 可以從行業的需求邏輯上找到。 由於在新西蘭理工學院的本科和碩士學位中引入了工業導向教育, 最近一些研究與發展項目突顯與綜合性大學的不同。根據行業需求, 在但尼丁的理工學院把原有的傳統的企業設計碩士學位的招生範圍延伸到工程和技術領域, 以便於培養高科技產品設計師。所以理工學院的工程技術學士畢業生, 可以找到自己的研究生深造途徑。
