伍斯特（英语：Worcester /ˈwʊstər/ WUUSS-tər，本地 /ˈwɪstə/ WISS-tə）[1]位于美国马萨诸塞州中部，是伍斯特县的县治所在，人口约18万（2010年）[2]，是新英格兰地区第二大城市，仅次于波士顿[3]。它位于波士顿以西40哩（64千米），普罗维登斯以北40哩（64千米）。城市里保留有许多维多利亚式建筑。
历史[编辑]
这片地区最早的居民为尼普穆克族，他们称此地为“Quinsigamond”，聚居地在奥伯恩的Pakachoag Hill附近[4]。1673年英格兰殖民者约翰·艾略特（John Eliot）和丹尼尔·古金（Daniel Gookin）开始计划在这里建立殖民地，次年7月13日尼普穆克族答应了他们的要求，给予了他们八平方哩的土地。[5]
1675年尼普穆克族和殖民者之间爆发菲利普国王战争，最终殖民者离开了这里，尼普穆克族烧掉了他们留下的建筑[5]。1713年乔纳斯·赖斯再次在此定居[6]，1722年6月14日此地以英格兰的伍斯特为名正式建立政府[7]。1731年4月2日成为新成立的伍斯特郡的郡治。
地理与气候[编辑]
伍斯特属温带大陆性气候，四季分明，降雨与日照充足。冬季寒冷，微潮，日最高气温低于或等于0 °C（32 °F）的平均日数为45天，日最低气温−10 °C（14 °F）以下的平均日数为30天，−15 °C（5 °F）以下的平均日数为9.0天；夏季相对炎热潮湿，日最高气温大于或等于30 °C（86 °F）的日数年均有13天，35 °C（95 °F）以上的气温为罕见。[8]最冷月（1月）均温−4.1 °C（24.7 °F），极端最低气温−31 °C（−24 °F）（1943年2月16日）。最热月（7月）均温21.6 °C（70.8 °F），极端最高气温39 °C（102 °F）（1911年7月4日）。无霜期平均为176天（4月23日至10月15日）；可测量降雪平均期为11月15日至4月4日。[8]年均降水量约1,230毫米（48.3吋），年极端最少降水量为709毫米（27.92吋）（1941年），最多为1,820毫米（71.66吋）（1972年）。[8]年均降雪量为185厘米（72.9吋）；1954–55年的降雪量最少，积累降雪量只有54厘米（21.2吋），1992–93年的降雪量最多，积累降雪量为3.05米（120.1吋）。[8][9]
