天王赤旋螺（学名：Pleuroploca gigantea），又名佛罗里达马康克螺，是亚热带及热带一种极大的掠食性海螺。它们是美国海域最大的腹足纲。[1]
解剖[编辑]
天王赤旋螺可以完全躲入螺壳内几个月。柔软部分呈鲜橙色。
螺壳[编辑]
天王赤旋螺的壳长60厘米。[1]壳呈梭形，有一条长的虹吸管，具有达10个螺旋。[1]幼体的壳呈鲜橙色，随着长大而变成灰白色至鲑橙色，有浅黄褐色或深褐色的角质层。[1]
分布[编辑]
天王赤旋螺分布在由美国北卡罗来纳州至墨西哥湾尤卡坦州沿大西洋的海岸。[1]
生态[编辑]
栖息地[编辑]
天王赤旋螺栖息在低潮间带至潮下带浅水区的沙、海草及泥床。[1]它们一般生活在水深6米的地方。
食性[编辑]
天王赤旋螺会捕食其他大型海生掠食者，包括左旋香螺、女王凤凰螺及骨螺属。[2][3]它们也有同类相食的情况。[2]在水族箱内，它们也会吃细小的寄居蟹。

天王赤旋螺是美国佛罗里达州的州贝壳。由于壳很大，故十分著名。
考古及人类[编辑]
在传统玛雅艺术中，天王赤旋螺可以用来摆放颜料，或是可以作为号角。
在佛罗里达州南部的原住民会使用天王赤旋螺来制作多种器具。螺壳附在木柄上可以作为锤子或木工工具，螺旋则可以作为杯子。
