潛望鏡(Periscope),是一種利用光線反射原理所製作的光學儀器,最常被用在潛水艇用以在水下觀察水面上的動靜。曾在塹壕戰中被用來從壕溝觀察敵軍動態

潛望鏡的發明: 世界上最早記載潛望鏡原理的古書,是公元前二世紀中國的《淮南萬畢術》。書中記載了這樣的一段話:「取大鏡高懸,置水盤於其下,則見四鄰矣。」 現代潛艇潛望鏡是在20世紀初發明的。1906年德國海軍建成第一艘潛艇時,已使用了相當完善的光學潛望鏡,由物鏡、轉像系統和目鏡等組成。
