貝克德爾測驗（英語：Bechdel test）是一個致力於使性別不平等引起關注的簡短測驗，展示了女性在電影作品中因性別歧視而缺乏代表的現象。該測驗源自艾莉森·貝克德爾的報紙連環漫畫《Dykes to Watch Out For（英語：Dykes to Watch Out For）》。在1985年發表的《The Rule》中，一個未命名的女性角色說她只看滿足以下三個條件的電影：

  1. 片中至少有兩個有名字的女性角色，
  2. 她們互相交談過，
  3. 談話的內容與男性無關。

維吉尼亞．吳爾芙在她1929年的文章《自己的房間》裡提及自己在當時的文學作品中觀察到的現象，這一現象在日後成為貝克德爾測驗關注的焦點[3]：

一項針對電影中性別描繪的研究分析了1950年至2006年間855部商業上最成功的美國電影，發現每部影片中平均兩位男性角色對應一位女性角色，這一比例長久以來一直保持穩定。而女性角色涉及性愛情節的頻率相比男性角色高出一倍，她們出現在露骨性愛場景的比例隨時間推移增加[5]。根據吉娜·戴維斯「媒體中的性別」機構（Geena Davis Institute on Gender in Media）2014年的調查，全球2010年至2013年發行的120部電影中，有姓名的角色中僅有31%為女性，只有23%的影片以女性角色為主人公，女性導演僅占7%[6]。

通過率[編輯]

網站bechdeltest.com是一個由用戶編輯的資料庫，包含了4500部電影，按是否通過測驗來分類，用來衡量的女性角色必須有名字。截至2015年4月，網站列出的電影中有58%滿足了全部三個條件，10%滿足了兩個，22%滿足了一個，還有10%的影片一個都沒滿足[15]。《娛樂周刊》記者馬克·哈里斯（Mark Harris）表示，2009年奧斯卡最佳影片獎的提名作品中有一半難以通過測驗[16]。新聞網站Vocativ（英語：Vocativ）在分析了2013年票房最高的電影後，得出結論為大約一半影片能通過測驗[17]。

英國科幻小說家查爾斯·斯特羅斯指出，許多電影能通過測驗只是因為其中的女性角色交談的內容是婚姻和孩子（而不是條件中的男人）[18]。而部分和女性相關，或針對女性觀眾，或突出重要女性角色的作品沒有通過測驗。有四位女主角的美劇《欲望城市》沒能通過測驗，女主角之一在劇中自嘲道：「四個那麼聰明的女人怎麼除了男友就沒別的話題可談了呢？就像有銀行帳戶的七年級學生！[原文 4][19]」

局限和批評[編輯]

貝克德爾測驗只能在一定程度上展現女性在虛構作品中的代表程度，一部通過測驗的作品可能依舊包含性別歧視的內容，而具有突出女性角色的作品卻可能通不過測驗[23]。作品未能通過測驗的原因可能與性別偏見無關，例如它的設定背景導致女性角色的缺乏（如1981年影片《從海底出擊》的故事發生在二戰時的一艘潛艇里）[24]。基於上述原因，《每日電訊報》影評人羅比·科林（Robbie Collin）批評了該測驗，說「數據儲藏和清單勾畫蓋過了分析和欣賞」[25]。作者沃特·哈克尼（Walt Hickey）指出，這個測驗無法測出一部電影是否為性別平等方面的典範，通過它也無法確保劇本的質量、女性角色的深度和重要性。然而，他寫道：「這是電影領域裡現有的最佳性別平等測驗——也許更重要的是……這是唯一一個我們擁有數據的測驗。[26]」

衍生測驗[編輯]

貝克德爾測驗啟發了一系列其他類似測驗。美國LGBT媒體非政府組織GLAAD於2013年引入了「羅素測驗」（Russo test），致力於分析電影對LGBT群體的呈現[27][28]。芬克拜納測驗（英語：Finkbeiner test）幫助記者規避針對科學領域中的女性的偏見[29]。森真子測驗（Mako Mori test）得名於《環太平洋》女主角名字，由影迷提出，該影片續集未通過貝克德爾測驗（因為森真子在續集的前幾分鐘便死亡）[30]。

Node包管理器的首席技術官提出將貝克德爾測驗應用到軟體領域，如果程序中女程式設計師寫的一段函數調用另一女程式設計師寫的函數，那它能通過測試[31]。該測驗在美國政府服務代理18F用其分析他們的軟體後得到了媒體關注[32][33] 。
