摘要

描述The 'Jap Cap'.jpg	English: Japanese POW cap which was collected by Normand and Hazel Preston after the cap blew off a Japanese POW who were being transported by truck back to the Cowra POW camp after the breakout at the POW camp on 1944年8月5日. The cap's colour was originally maroon however after the propaganda during the war about the Japanese and unsure at how safe the cap would be if touched, the Normand used s stick to collect the cap and placed in the back of the car and Hazel boiled the cap in the copper until all of the maroon colour was gone. The cap is the only known clothing relic of the Cowra POW camp breakout in Australia
