瑪麗亞·瑪爾維娜·格特勒（Maria Malvina Gertler）出生在布達佩斯[3]或是波蘭[2]，是菲倫茲·約瑟夫·格特勒（Ferenz Joseph Gertler）之女[1]:557。很多人稱她為「曼茜」（Manci），是一個女冒險家。
瑪麗亞·瑪爾維娜·格特勒於1935年到達英國，1938年同埃芬厄姆霍華德勳爵莫布雷結婚[1]:557。瑪麗亞·瑪爾維娜·格特勒曾加入英國法西斯聯盟[4]:311。
瑪麗亞·瑪爾維娜·格特勒甚至在二戰爆發前就被懷疑是間諜。並於1941年2月10日被關進霍洛威監獄。因為缺乏證據，她於1941年7月16日被釋放。她在1945[2]或1946年時同霍華德離婚[1]:557。
