《百戰將軍》是麥可·鮑威爾與艾默利·普萊斯柏格導演的一部電影。該片講述將軍肯迪參加布爾戰爭回國，得到了維多利亞十字勳章。後來到德國結識了亨特小姐，在與一名造謠的德國軍官發生口角後辱罵了德國陸軍，後被迫與一德軍軍官舒道夫決鬥。不打不相識，兩人成為好友，舒道夫娶了亨特小姐為妻。
回國後，肯迪發現自己也喜歡亨特小姐。一戰爆發了，肯迪再次參戰，他相信打仗應該憑藉紳士的風度。戰爭結束時，他在修道院偶然遇到了酷似亨特的芭芭拉·懷恩，二人後來結為夫婦。舒道夫成了戰俘，受到了肯迪的熱情款待，後來遣送回國。1935年，肯迪退役。
轉眼到了二戰，舒道夫的兩個兒子參加納粹，妻子逝世，他自己則作為難民流亡英國，與老友再次相逢。克萊夫病故，肯迪選了一名酷似她的年輕女兵作他的汽車司機。肯迪作為老將軍動員新兵，可他的騎士精神已不再適應現代戰爭，片尾處，他與舒道夫陷入了對往昔的深深懷念。
