Mohun Bagan was established in 1889 and won its first trophy in 1904 when they won Coochbehar Cup.[4] In 1905 Mohun Bagan reached the final of Gladstone Cup which was held in Chinsurah in which they defeated the reigning IFA Shield winners Dalhousie 6-1.
