卢台特期是始新世的的第二个阶段，起始和终止时间分别为47.8百万年前和41.2百万年前。

在通常情况下，该阶经常与巴尔顿期共同构成中始新亚世；另外在某些情况下，该期还可能与伊普雷斯期共同组成早始新亚世。

地层定义

该期以鲁特西亚（Lutetia）——巴黎的拉丁语古称命名。
