English: This "Portrait of Consort Zhuang in court costume" (莊妃朝服像) painted on a paper scroll (92 x 53 cm) represents Bumbutai (1613–1688), a Khorchin Mongol of the Borjigit clan who was one of the wives of Hong Taiji (1592–1643), the second emperor of the Qing dynasty. Named "Consort Zhuang" in 1636, she became empress dowager when her five-year-old son Fulin succeeded Hong Taiji as the Shunzhi Emperor in 1643.
