描述	English: This map shows the location of the Dutch fortress in the Penghu Islands (澎湖). The Dutch planned to establish their Far Eastern colony here, but Chinese officials had other ideas. According to Dutch East India Company sources, Chinese officials suggested that the Dutch instead establish their colony on Taiwan, backing up their recommendation with a large military buildup in Penghu. The Dutch reluctantly abandoned their fort and moved to the Bay of Tayouan in 1624. Used by permission of the Austrian National Library (finding aid: Atlas Van der Hem, V. XLI, 6)
