摘要

描述 The delightful Thanaleng train station, railhead for Vientaine, Laos. There is zero public transport here and it's quite difficult to find transport into town if you do arrive here. The train we saw on the Friendship Bridge is seen stading inside. Many people in Laos talk about the Kunming (China) to Singapore high speed rail line which will pass through Laos, and most of the folks I spoke to have high hopes for that. If that happens, (estimated 2017?) then there are plans to convert this station into a freight terminal. There are no freight trains running into Laos as of now by the way, though there are definitely plans to do so. More notes about the station in subsequent captions.
