Gratitude: an autograph from the icon of democracy I showed my mom this note and suddenly her memories returned of that day she purchased the book. It was 1983 and she was in the Ninoy Aquino museum at Cojuangco building in Makati. She saw Cory Aquino by her desk surrounded by a group of women. Cory was talking to them saying, "I want the young people to know what Ninoy had done to have a taste of what freedom is like again." My mom was close enough to hear her and approached her to say, "I have two daughters, and I will make sure that they know about what Ninoy had done." Cory replied, "Come let me autograph your book."
