維魯拉米恩（Verulamium）是位於英國赫特福德郡聖奧爾本斯的一個古羅馬城鎮，現僅存遺址，是英國國家在冊古蹟。古代的沃特靈大道穿過這裏。^[1]

歷史[編輯]

在羅馬人抵達之前，卡圖維勞尼人已經佔據了這片地方，他們稱這裏為「Verlamion」^[2]。它在公元50年左右成為羅馬人的自治市鎮（municipium），人民獲得了有限的公民權。到3世紀時，其面積達到125英畝（0.51平方公里），有壕溝與城牆保護。不列顛的第一位殉道聖人聖奧爾本在此殉道^[3]。羅馬人在5世紀前半葉放棄了這裏。現在還留存着一些城牆、劇院。聖奧爾本斯有維魯拉米恩博物館（Verulamium Museum）保存着莫蒂默·惠勒在1930年代從遺址里挖掘出來的古物。
