眼斑雪冰鱼，为辐鳍鱼纲鲈形目南极鱼亚目鳄冰鱼科[1][2]的其中一种，分布于南冰洋区，从南奥克尼群岛至南极半岛海域，栖息深度可达1000米，体长可达52公分，为底栖性鱼类，属肉食性，以磷虾及鱼类为食[1]。可做为食用鱼。
幼鱼出生时只有17毫米长，平均每周长2毫米，其间以磷虾为食，直到18个月长成后。成鱼要到四岁时才开始性成熟，之后会再生活八到十年，最长可达12年 [2][3]。南极秋季时，成鱼会游到较浅水的海床（200–300 m）产卵，六个月后的四月左右孵化[4]。
眼斑雪冰鱼身体表面没有鳞片覆盖；其血液透明，里面不含血红蛋白，因为在冰冷的南极海（摄氏-1.9度）中，鱼只消耗少量的氧气；氧的溶解度非常的高。这在脊椎动物中非常罕见[5][6][7]。2011年时，日本的东京海洋生物公园曾解剖过一条鱼的标本，事后说鱼的血“就像清水一样的清”[6][8]。
