| 描述 | Mayas lived in the Tikal area as of about 600 B.C. This very large Maya city was mostly built during the Maya civilisation's Classical Period (250-900 A.D.), when the population may have reached 90,000 people. Despite their size, the ruins were rediscovered only in 1848 because they were enirely overgrown. Until today, the largest parts of the city are buried under soil and plants. Tikal is an impressive and humbling site. |
