Dell Inspiron 1720 System Specifications
These are one of my very few posts where I state about any of my equipment's specifications. The only problem with the 1720 is the bottlenecking of Nvidia's 8600M GT DDR2 mid-range Video Card, though I expected it to be GDDR3 at this point of time especially for a 17" notebook, or at least an 8700M GT. Because of its 32 bit capability of the OS, it was initially 3GB of DDR2 RAM when ordered, but the extra RAM of my previous laptop was added to this model. Might as well make full use of the extra RAM and not waste any valuable memory!
UPDATE: Now using Windows Vista Ultimate 64 bit, and 6GB of RAM. Apparently, the chipset does support more than 4GB of RAM. Tried and tested.
UPDATE: The X9000 Core 2 Extreme Processor works along side well with the Inspiron 1720 with the latest BIOS support. Zero heat issues experienced with this chip for the past 6 months.
