描述Ole Rømer - Obser. Primi Jovialium Parisiis - pp1+4.jpg
English: Page 1 (right) and 4 of the list of eclipses of the Jupiter moon Io that formed the basis of Ole Rømer's discovery of the finite speed of light.
The Latin title Obser. Primi Jovialium Parisiis translates to "Observations of the first Jupiter moon in Paris". Page 1 lists emersions and immersions of Io observed between 1668 and 1678. The first observation (circled) is marked "should according to everyone's opinion be excluded".
The top of page 4 lists observations of the fourth moon of Jupiter (Callisto). At the lower half are a couple of attempts to match the number of revolutions ("Rev.") of Io with an average orbiting time for three periods, 76-77, 71-72 and 72-73. Next to them are what according to Meyer p. 19 appears to calculations of an average value of the time it takes light to travel a distance equal to the Earth orbit radius (ca. 11 minutes). At the bottom, written upside down, are calculations of eclipses in Paris based on observed eclipses at Uranienborg.

The original work is in the public domain by age. If the 1915 reproduction is photographic, it is still public domain because it does not meet the threshold of originality and it was created before 1970.

This image is in the public domain in Denmark because the DanishConsolidated Act on Copyright of 2010 specifies (§91, 5) that all photographic images not considered to be "photographic works" that were created before 1 January 1970 are exempt from protection (details).
Note that "photographic works", which must display artistic merit or originality, enter the public domain 70 years after the death of the photographer and that photographs that are not considered works but created 1 January 1970 or later become public domain 50 years after they were created. See Licensing for details.
Some countries have a lower threshold of originality and may therefore apply a longer protection term for this image, so it may not be usable in such countries.
To uploader: For this to be applicable, creation year must be known (or known to be at least before 1970)
