English: Stóra Dímun, also called just Dímun, is one of the smallest of the inhabited islands of the Faroes. The island is 2,65 km2 and 395 m high. The village is located 100 meters above sea level. In 2014 the population was 9. A school has been built there for the children who lives there, three teachers from a school in Tórshavn travel to the island one each time, in order to teach the children. The helicopter is the only option if one wants to travel to the island, except if it is only a short trip, then it can be done with Norðlýsið from Tórshavn or the schooner Thorshavn from the island Suðuroy. In the old days, before the helicopter became the transport to and from Dímun, the only way was by boat and then climbing up the very steep cliff in order to come to the village.
