According to the submitter, "In South Africa, my father used this photo as his 'autograph picture' to be handed out broadly to fans. The photo would have been taken in the late 1920s and there is no marking of photographer or copyright on the back of this sole remaining copy. It was broadly circulated, printed in newspapers and magazines for many years."
