Hi YFdyh000,

I’m Pau Giner, a Designer and Product Manager working with the Language team of the Wikimedia Foundation. We are working on some improvements to Content Translation that may be of your interest since you have been a prolific translator during the recent months.

Currently the Language team is working on a new version of Content Translation that will provide a more solid editing experience. This is expected to solve many of the common issues that translators experience when creating a translation. Inserting and editing complex content such as references will be much easy, reliable and producing cleaner wikitext as a result.

The new version is a major refactoring and architectural update of Content Translation, so we want to expose it to editors in a gradual way but starting at an early stage. Given your experience with the current version of the tool, we think you are an ideal candidate to try the new version and give us feedback. If you are interested you can follow these steps:

  1. Access the new version of the tool. You can access the new version anytime at the usual location of the tool by adding a version=2 parameter to the URL. So you can follow this link to start a new translation: https://zh.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:ContentTranslation?version=2
  2. Translate an article. Try to create a new article as you would normally do in Content Translation.
  3. Provide feedback. Based on your experience translating with the new version (and your previous experiences with the former version) you can provide feedback in this talk page. Provide feedback mentioning what worked well, what didn’t work so well, and whether you noticed anything important to be missing to support your translation workflow. If you are familiar with Phabricator (our bug tracking system), you can report CX2 related issues by creating a ticket using this link.

Your feedback will be very useful to identify common issues to work on for the upcoming months.

Thanks for using Content Translation.
