Ashtabula Township is one of the twenty-seven townships of Ashtabula County, 俄亥俄州, 美国. As of the 2010 census the population was 20,941.[3]
地理
[编辑]Located in the northern part of the county along Lake Erie, 与以下镇区接壤：
- Kingsville Township - 东
- Plymouth Township - 南
- Saybrook Township - 西
The Canadian province of Ontario lies across Lake Erie to the north.
Most of the city of Ashtabula is located in western Ashtabula Township, and the census-designated place of Edgewood is located in the township's southeast.
Name and history
[编辑]It is the only Ashtabula Township statewide.
The first white settler in the township was one Matthew Hubbard, who arrived in Ashtabula County from Connecticut in 1804.[4]
政府
[编辑]镇区有3人组成的理事会管理。理事会理事选举在奇数年11月举行，并在来年1月1日开始四年任期。两名理事的选举在总统选举后一年举行，另一名的选举在总统选举前一年举行。镇区财务官亦由选举产生[5]，与一名镇区理事选举同时举行，不过在来年4月1日才开始四年任期。若财务官或理事职位有空缺，将由剩余理事填补。 Currently, the board is composed of chairman Stephen McClure and members Sam Bucci and Joseph Pete, Sr.[4]
