Knox Township is one of the fourteen townships of Jefferson County, 俄亥俄州, 美国. The 2000 census found 5,011 people in the township, 2,179 of whom lived in the unincorporated portions of the township.[3]
地理[编辑]
Located in the northeastern part of the county along the Ohio River, 与以下镇区接壤:
- Saline Township - 北
- Island Creek Township - 南
- Salem Township - 南west corner
- Ross Township - 西
Hancock County, West Virginia lies across the Ohio River to the east.
Three incorporated municipalities are located along the Ohio River in eastern Knox Township:
- Part of the village of Stratton, upstream
- The village of Empire, in the middle
- Part of the city of Toronto, downstream
As well, the unincorporated community of New Somerset lies in the northern part of the township.
Name and history[编辑]
Knox Township is named for Henry Knox, first U.S. Secretary of War.[4]
It is one of five Knox Townships statewide.[5]
政府[编辑]
镇区有3人组成的理事会管理。理事会理事选举在奇数年11月举行,并在来年1月1日开始四年任期。两名理事的选举在总统选举后一年举行,另一名的选举在总统选举前一年举行。镇区财务官亦由选举产生[6],与一名镇区理事选举同时举行,不过在来年4月1日才开始四年任期。若财务官或理事职位有空缺,将由剩余理事填补。
