English: In the sacrificial burial system of Eastern Chou, vessels for pouring and libation, especially the chien basin and the hu flask became more and more important. Aside from the exquisitely cast chien basin hu flask combination, there are many different types of hu flasks, including oblong flasks, gourd flasks, and swing handle flasks. These were probably for daily use. There are also animal-shaped tsun vessels, p'ou pots, p'an plates and yi vessels. In this Shan-piao tomb, the hu flasks with bird and flowers were placed in the chien basins with copper inlaid battle scenes when unearthed, indicating that they were a set. This set of chien/hu vessels, with fine decoration, includes the most exquisitely cast bronzes in tomb M1 of Shan-piao.
