像素著色引擎(Pixel Shader)是以每像素(Pixel)為單位的圖形處理功能。像素著色引擎不是最迫切需要的,擁有較低的優先權,當頂點著色引擎負荷大時,像素著色引擎可能被閒置著。大多數情況下,可使用頂點著色法代替像素著色法。
Direct3D 9.0 擴充像素著色引擎,有多達1536個指令。
像素著色引擎可以用下列語言程式化:組合語言、Cg、GLSL、HLSL
下表列出顯示卡、圖形晶片、以及DirectX所支持的像素着色引擎版本。圖形芯片一般是完全向下兼容的(如支持 3.0 的芯片也同時支持 2.0,1.1 等)。
