埃德加·伍德中心

埃德加·伍德中心（英語：Edgar Wood Centre）是一座前基督科學教會教堂，位於曼徹斯特。佩夫斯納認為這是「在二十世紀的英格蘭教堂設計調查中，蘭開夏郡唯一不可缺少的的宗教建築物。」^[1]埃德加·伍德中心是一座I級登錄建築。^[2]

歷史

埃德加·伍德中心由建築師埃德加·伍德（Edgar Wood）設計，是英國的第一座基督科學教會教堂，始建於1903年，於後一年完工。土地和資金的短缺導致建築設計不完整，但1905年建築物得到擴修，1907年完成建造。^[3]佩夫斯納稱讚此教堂是「當時英格蘭——甚至全世界（基督科學教會）最原始的建築物之一。」^[4]教堂被嚴重破壞後，於1971年關閉，並於1975年重新開放，改造為現在的埃德加·伍德中心。^[5]
