Montville Township is one of the seventeen townships of Medina County, 俄亥俄州, 美國. The 2000 census found 5,410 people in the township.[3]

Located in the central part of the county, 與以下鎮區接壤：

- Granger Township - 北east corner
- Sharon Township - 東
- Wadsworth Township - 東南 corner
- Guilford Township - 南
- Westfield Township - 南west corner
- Lafayette Township - 西
- York Township - 北west corner
Part of the city of Medina, the county seat of Medina County, is located in northwestern Montville Township.
Name[編輯]
Statewide, the only other Montville Township is located in Geauga County.
History[編輯]
The land was purchased by General Arisarchus Champion in 1818.[4] He named it after the town in Vermont where he had lived.[4]
The township was established in 1820, less than two years after the first settlers arrived.[4]
- 1818: Land sold to General Arisarchus Champion
- 1819: Austin Badger and Samuel Brown settled on land
- 1820: Montville Township organized
- 1823: Saw mill constructed by Badger
- 1829: First religious service at Episcopal Church
- 1830: Methodist Church meets in home and school classrooms
- 1844: Methodist Church built
- 1850: General Store opened
- 1873: Musical convention held at Episcopal Church
- 1879: Pioneer monument of Farifax Smith erected
- 1890: Northeastern Ohio Railroad built crossing northeastern Montville
- 1923: All schoolhouses consolidated to one elementary school; high school students bused to Medina
- 1932: Montville Grange organized[4]
政府[編輯]
鎮區有3人組成的理事會管理。理事會理事選舉在奇數年11月舉行，並在來年1月1日開始四年任期。兩名理事的選舉在總統選舉後一年舉行，另一名的選舉在總統選舉前一年舉行。鎮區財務官亦由選舉產生[5]，與一名鎮區理事選舉同時舉行，不過在來年4月1日才開始四年任期。若財務官或理事職位有空缺，將由剩餘理事填補。 As of 2012, Ronald Bischof, Jeff Bradon, and Sally Albrecht are members of the board of trustees with Bischof serving as chairman and Brandon serving as vice chairman.[6]
Police, fire, and LST personnel operate out of the Ron F. Bischof Safety Services building, which opened in 2011.[7] Other township business operates out of the Montville Administration Building.[7]
